Assistance of up to 2,500 RON/month for a block of flats in Sector 6, left without power following the breakdown at CET Vest
Sector 6 Local Council is providing monthly allowances of up to 2,500 RON to residents of the block at 106 Timișoara Blvd., along with a one-off grant of 5,300 RON for the utility connection.

The Local Council of Sector 6 decided on Friday to provide financial support to residents of the building at 106 Timișoara Boulevard, a block left without electricity following damage sustained at CET București Vest. The monthly assistance can reach 2,500 RON per family or individual and is intended to cover the operating costs of the generator used as a temporary solution.
In addition to this monthly support, residents may also apply for a one-off payment of up to 5,300 RON per apartment, an amount covering each unit's share of the cost of establishing a new connection to the public electricity distribution network.
How the payments will be made
Under the decision of the Sector 6 Local Council, persons whose permanent or temporary residence is registered at the affected building may receive a temporary community social assistance payment of up to 2,500 RON per month, for a maximum period ending on 31 December 2026. The funds are designed to offset the cost of fuel for the generator currently in provisional use, until the building is permanently reconnected to the public electricity network.
The amount will be transferred directly to the bank account of the Asociației de Proprietari Timișoara 106, as indicated by the beneficiaries in their application.
Separately, residents may apply on a single occasion for an exceptional social assistance payment of up to 5,300 RON per apartment. This amount represents each unit's share of the cost of connecting to the public network and will likewise be transferred to the residents' association account, which is obliged to pay the contractor carrying out the works.
The two types of assistance — monthly and one-off — may be combined, and the funding comes from the budget of the Direcției Generale de Asistență Socială și Protecția Copilului Sector 6.
What happened at CET București Vest
The building was left without electricity following two successive incidents at CET București Vest, in April and May 2026. According to a statement from Elcen, on 20 April 2026 the plant suffered a major electrical fault that severely damaged two transformers. Power to the building was maintained through a provisional arrangement, which subsequently failed on 23 May when a further fire damaged the transformer being used as a temporary measure.
As a result of these incidents, CET București Vest was no longer able to supply electricity to consumers connected to its installations. Elcen stated that it had provided the Asociației de Proprietari Timișoara 106 with a generator and had suspended electricity billing for the affected building.
