1. Conformance status
SeniorHelp is committed to making its platform accessible to people with disabilities, in accordance with Romanian Law 232/2022, which transposes EU Directive 2016/2102 of the European Parliament and Council on the accessibility of websites and mobile applications.
This website is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 Level AA. „Partially conformant" means that some parts of the content do not yet fully meet the accessibility standard. Non-conforming items are listed in section 2.
2. Non-accessible content
2.1. Non-compliance with accessibility regulations
- Interactive maps (MapLibre + Mapbox-style tiles) may not be fully navigable by screen readers; we provide full addresses as text and Waze / Google Maps links as alternatives.
- PDF documents published before May 2026 may not be tagged for screen readers. We are remediating these progressively.
- Third-party widgets (cookie banner, embedded YouTube/Vimeo videos) follow the accessibility level provided by the third party and may have minor focus-trap or contrast issues outside our direct control.
- Certain stock placeholder images may have generic alt text. We improve these descriptions progressively; any concrete issue reported is fixed within 30 days.
2.2. Disproportionate burden
Currently, no content is excluded from accessibility under a disproportionate-burden claim, per Article 5 of EU Directive 2016/2102.
2.3. Content outside the scope of applicable legislation
- Office file formats (PDF, DOCX) published before 23 September 2018, except those required for active administrative processes.
- Pre-recorded time-based media published before 23 September 2020.
- Live time-based media (live streams).
- Third-party content neither funded, developed, nor controlled by SeniorHelp.
3. Accessibility features implemented
In the bottom-left corner of every page (or right, configurable) there is a button that opens a panel with over 45 accessibility options, including:
- 9 quick profiles (Senior, Vision impaired, Dyslexia, Cognitive, Motor, Blind, Color blind, Epilepsy, ADHD) — apply an optimized configuration with one click; toggle active/inactive
- Text scaling in 5 steps (100%, 125%, 150%, 175%, 200%)
- Adjustable spacing (letter, word, line) + text alignment + bold text
- Specialized font for dyslexia (OpenDyslexic)
- Bionic reading (first part of each word bolded for focus)
- Reading mode (strips distractions, shows only main content)
- Heading and link highlighting
- 9 color modes: default, dark, high contrast, light contrast, inverted colors, low saturation, high saturation, monochrome, sepia
- Smart contrast: auto-detects and boosts contrast for hard-to-read text
- Big cursor (3 levels) + enhanced focus for keyboard navigation
- Reading mask and horizontal guide that follow the mouse
- Read aloud (click any text) + browser voice selector
- Image alt-text reader (hover 0.8s on image = speak description)
- Magnifier (hover over text = enlarged popover at 1.45×)
- Spell check in text fields
- Saved profiles: snapshot your custom configuration, reusable
- Numbered headings + section markers
- Click delay (prevents accidental double-click)
- Larger buttons (min 48×48px)
- Skip to content (skip-to-content link on Tab)
- Keyboard shortcuts: Ctrl+Shift+A toggle panel, Esc close, 1–9 apply profile #, / focus first toggle
- Configurable hide duration (1 day / 1 week / 1 month / session / permanent) — Ctrl+Shift+A re-enables at any time
Settings are saved only in your browser (localStorage) — no account, no external cookies, no tracking. Widget last updated: 20 May 2026.
Additional accessible content: semantic HTML structure, ARIA labels on interactive controls, descriptive alt text on images, WCAG AA contrast verified, full keyboard navigation, NVDA/JAWS/VoiceOver support, glossary with 180+ medical terms explained.
4. Preparation of this accessibility statement
This statement was prepared on 20 May 2026. The site's compliance with the requirements of Law 232/2022 was assessed through self-assessment by the internal SeniorHelp team using:
- Manual testing against WCAG 2.1 Level AA Success Criteria
- Automated audit tools (Lighthouse, axe-core, WAVE)
- Keyboard-only navigation testing
- Screen reader testing (NVDA on Windows, VoiceOver on macOS/iOS)
We reassess this statement at least twice a year and on every major platform change.
