Investigation at Ambulanța Iași: 1 in 10 employees on sick leave in the height of summer
The Iași Ambulance Service has asked the Health Insurance House to review sick leave records, after 10% of its staff fell ill in June and July — 40% more than during winter.

The Iași County Ambulance Service has launched an internal investigation and requested assistance from the Health Insurance House after noting an unusually high number of sick leaves during the summer months.
The institution employs approximately 500 staff members – paramedics and ambulance crew. In June alone, 53 of them, nearly 10% of the workforce, went on sick leave. The same pattern repeated itself in July. Service management notes that the number of sick leaves has risen by 40% compared to the winter period.
Every day, 90 medical crews operate across Iași County, working 12-hour shifts and responding to around 600 call-outs. Due to the high number of staff on sick leave, those remaining at work are being forced to take on additional duties, placing considerable strain on the entire system.
Representatives of the Iași Ambulance Service have asked the Health Insurance House to verify whether these sick leaves are medically justified.
