Regional hospitals in Cluj, Iași and Craiova to be completed within the next three years
Investments of 5.6 billion RON for 2,506 beds. The projects have entered the home straight with concrete progress.

The three regional emergency hospitals in Iaşi, Cluj-Napoca and Craiova are on the verge of becoming a reality, after years of delays and bureaucratic hurdles. These state-of-the-art medical facilities will offer a combined total of 2,506 inpatient beds and involve massive investment of 5.6 billion RON (1.1 billion euros).
The three projects are at different stages of progress, but all have recorded significant advances recently. In Cluj-Napoca, the authorities have finally managed to sign the construction contract, marking a crucial milestone in the delivery of this strategic objective for the Romanian healthcare system.
In Iaşi, work is already under way, with construction teams focused on laying the foundations of the future regional hospital. This fundamental stage forms the basis for the entire structure that will be built in the subsequent phases of the project.
The most advanced appears to be the Craiova project, where two floors have already been erected, demonstrating that construction work has gained a sustained and visible momentum.
These regional hospitals will bring major benefits to the populations of their respective areas, particularly for older people who are most in need of complex and specialised medical services. Modern facilities and expanded capacity will reduce waiting times and improve the quality of care.
For elderly patients, who make up a significant proportion of those requiring extended hospital stays, these facilities will represent an opportunity to access higher-quality treatment closer to home. The wide range of specialisations within the regional hospitals will allow for an integrated approach to the complex conditions that are characteristic of advanced age.
According to current estimates, all three hospitals could be delivered and operational within the next three years, marking a revolution in the Romanian healthcare system and offering hope for improved medical care across all patient groups.
