Resumption of Works at the Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment Centre in București
The Government has unlocked funding for the modernisation of the medical centre specialising in tuberculosis, a condition commonly affecting the elderly.

The Romanian Government has approved the update of the technical and economic indicators for the Zerlendi Tuberculosis Diagnosis and Treatment Centre in Bucharest, thereby unlocking the funding needed to continue the modernisation works.
Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan confirmed that this project is a governmental priority, with the contractor already mobilised to resume activities on site. The decision comes in the context of this medical centre playing a crucial role in the treatment of a condition that particularly affects elderly people.
Tuberculosis remains a significant public health concern in Romania, with senior citizens among the most vulnerable groups to this pulmonary infection. The weakened immune systems of older adults, combined with the frequent presence of comorbidities, mean that this category of patients requires specialised medical services and adequate infrastructure.
The modernisation of the Zerlendi Centre will enable improvements to diagnostic and treatment capacity, providing access to advanced medical technologies and optimal conditions for the care of elderly patients with tuberculosis. This is particularly important given that the treatment of tuberculosis in older adults requires a complex approach and careful monitoring.
The completion of this project will contribute significantly to improving the healthcare services available to elderly people in the capital and across the country, offering a high standard of specialised medical care for a condition that can have serious consequences if not treated appropriately.
