Alexandru Nazare, Siegfried Mureșan's nominee for the Ministry of Finance, has stated that a possible pension indexation from 1 January 2027 could be considered, though he spoke of a "cautious" increase without announcing a specific percentage, according to Realitatea PLUS.

The official stressed that any decision regarding pension increases must be analysed in the context of the 2027 budget process. The subject of pension indexation in 2027 had previously been raised by Siegfried Mureșan, who had stated that the percentage would be determined based on the budgetary situation and inflation trends.

"I believe we can consider a cautious increase. I don't want to commit to anything prematurely," said Alexandru Nazare.

When asked directly about pensions, he confirmed it would be "a cautious indexation," taking effect from 1 January: "An indexation... a cautious indexation. From 1 January. But I'm talking about an indexation that is, I repeat, cautious."

No percentage has been set

Alexandru Nazare did not confirm any specific increase percentage. When asked directly whether the indexation could be 7%, in line with the average inflation rate, he did not give an affirmative answer. He clarified that the level of indexation would be discussed alongside the entire 2027 budget proposal.

"All of these elements form the pillars of the future 2027 budget and of the inter-party negotiations over that budget, so that it may be adopted," Alexandru Nazare added.
