Disability benefits could be suspended until outstanding debts of over 650 million RON owed by DGASMB are settled. Some 52,000 current beneficiaries are affected.

This measure could be implemented pending the payment of over 650 million RON in arrears accumulated by the General Directorate of Social Assistance of Bucharest Municipality (DGASMB).
According to available information, the suspension would affect both new applications and the approximately 52,000 beneficiaries who are already receiving this support.
What is happening with Materna vouchers
In addition to the disability benefits, the permanent elimination of Materna vouchers — support intended for pregnant women to cover medical services and products — is also under consideration.
Bucharest City Hall also intends to introduce new eligibility criteria for the childbirth allowance. Specifically, the value of this benefit would be reduced to 2,000 RON.
