The Ministry of Health Wants to Unblock Over 7,800 Posts in Hospitals and Ambulance Services

The Ministry of Health has submitted for approval a Memorandum proposing the unblocking of 7,805.5 vacant posts within the healthcare system. This figure was the result of an analysis carried out jointly with the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), based on previously established criteria.

Of the total posts proposed, 7,360 are designated for hospitals under the authority of the Ministry of Health, local administrative-territorial units, and hospitals within other networks, whilst 445.5 posts are allocated to the County Ambulance Services (SAJ).

How the hospital posts are distributed

The 7,360 posts designated for hospitals are divided as follows:

• 1,336 doctor posts;
• 2,923 nurse posts;
• 2,823 posts for auxiliary staff (orderlies, porters, etc.);
• 278 posts for pharmacists, biologists, biochemists, and medical physicists.

The Ministry states that it has fully approved the posts requested by the County Ambulance Services, psychiatric and high-security hospitals, as well as healthcare units within the prison system, citing the specific nature of their work and the need for continuity of medical services.

According to the Ministry, hospitals treating more complex and serious cases have been allocated a greater number of posts, whilst units with lower activity levels have received posts tailored to the needs identified following the application of the analysis criteria.

Interim Minister of Health Cseke Attila stated: "As I have said before, a strong healthcare system starts with the people who keep it running. That is why I will continue to support healthcare professionals and the measures that lead to better medical services for patients."

The Ministry of Health has submitted for approval the Memorandum concerning the organisation of competitions to fill vacant posts in public healthcare units.

Previously, at the Government session on 23 July, another Memorandum had been approved regarding the organisation of competitions for 22 nursing posts at the "M.S. Curie" Clinical Emergency Hospital for Children — a unit that had been forced to reduce the number of intensive care beds due to a shortage of specialist staff. Furthermore, on 7 July, the Ministry of Health had announced the drafting and submission for approval of a Memorandum to fill 7,621 vacant posts within the healthcare system, a document which, by 23 July, had already received favourable opinions from 10 approving institutions.
