Government Accelerates Hospital Investments Through PNRR to Complete Projects by August
The interim Prime Minister is calling for the urgent processing of payments for hospitals under the NRRP, with an August 2025 deadline.

Interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan called on Wednesday for the acceleration of the funding process for projects under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR), with particular emphasis on investments in healthcare infrastructure serving the elderly population.
All entities responsible for coordinating PNRR investments and reforms have received clear instructions to urgently submit their funding requirements to the Ministry of Finance, in order to ensure continuity for projects currently under implementation.
The most pressing situation is at the Ministry of Health (Ministerul Sănătății), where several outstanding Government Decisions are awaiting immediate approval. This delay risks hampering the completion of several hospitals funded through the PNRR, which must be ready by the end of August.
Speeding up these investments in medical infrastructure is crucial to improving access to quality healthcare services, particularly for older people who require specialist and frequent medical assistance.
The modernisation and construction of new hospital units through European funds represents a significant opportunity for the Romanian healthcare system to enhance its capacity to serve the country's ageing population.
