The Ministry of Finance is launching a new investment session for TEZAUR government securities from 8 June to 3 July 2026, offering pensioners and senior citizens a safe opportunity to protect and grow their savings. The programme proposes attractive annual interest rates: 6.25% for a 1-year maturity, 6.80% for 3 years, and 7.25% for 5-year investments.

Accessible purchasing methods

Senior citizens can purchase these government securities through several convenient channels. The Ghișeul.ro online platform is available from 8 June to 1 July, offering a straightforward digital option. For those who prefer the traditional approach, post offices throughout the country accept subscriptions — until 2 July in urban areas and until 1 July in rural areas.

State Treasury branches will also remain open throughout the entire campaign period, until 3 July, for those who wish to carry out transactions directly at financial institutions.

Simple conditions and clear advantages

To invest, senior citizens must be at least 18 years of age, hold a valid identity card, and — for the online platform — have a Ghișeul.ro account along with a debit card issued in Romania. The minimum investment is 1,000 RON and the maximum is 200,000 RON per issue.

A major advantage for pensioners is that income from these investments is completely tax-free, meaning that the interest received is not subject to taxation. This represents genuine protection of purchasing power for people on fixed incomes.

Flexibility and security

TEZAUR securities offer flexibility through the possibility of early redemption, allowing senior citizens to access their funds should the need arise. Interest payments are made annually, ensuring a steady flow of additional income.

The programme's previous success demonstrates the confidence Romanians have in it — during the last session, investors allocated over 1.8 billion RON through nearly 45,000 subscriptions, confirming the popularity of this safe form of saving among the general public.
