Rogobete calls on CNAS to publish accurate figures on funding for treatments and hospitals
Former Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete is calling on the president of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), Horațiu Moldovan, to make the real financial data of the healthcare system public, rather than issuing mere general statements.
Foto ilustrativăAlexandru Rogobete, former Minister of Health and PSD member, is publicly calling on the President of the National Health Insurance House, Horațiu Moldovan, to present the true financial situation of the healthcare system. Rogobete recalls that, several weeks ago, the CNAS head claimed there were no problems and that concerns about funding and access to medicines were "false" and politically motivated.
The former minister is now demanding concrete figures regarding the funds needed until the end of the year for national health programmes, pharmacies, sick leave payments, and healthcare facilities.
What Rogobete is asking to be made public
Rogobete sent a direct message to the CNAS President, requesting the publication of the following information:
- The amounts required in the fourth quarter to fund national health programmes, broken down by oncology, rare diseases, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus, and neurology;
- The status of payments to pharmacies and the funding required until the end of the year to close the financial year without outstanding debts;
- The status of outstanding amounts owed for sick leave payments and the funding needed to settle them;
- The status of payments made by CNAS to public and private healthcare facilities over the past three months, broken down on a monthly basis;
- The total funding required by the system until 31 December 2026 and any payment obligations at risk of being carried over into the following year.
What further clarifications Rogobete is seeking
The former minister also wants to know what data and analyses Horațiu Moldovan relied upon when he maintained that the system was in good shape. Rogobete also refers to the CNAS head's claims that his decisions are independent of political pressure from dismissed Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, the president of the party to which Moldovan belongs.
"Then publish the figures. Not statements. Not general assurances. The actual figures!", Rogobete wrote.
Why Rogobete is calling for transparency
According to the former minister, Romanians need to know exactly what the financial situation of the healthcare system is and whether there is sufficient funding for treatments, medicines, and hospitals until the end of the year. He is insisting that the CNAS President publish concrete financial data, rather than merely issuing general statements about the state of the system.
