Healthcare and Social Care Workers' Strike Could Impact Senior Care

Healthcare and social care workers have taken to the streets to protest against a new pay legislation bill, a measure that could have a direct impact on the quality of care provided to elderly people across Romania.

The Sanitas trade union organised a demonstration outside the Ministry of Labour, voicing its dissatisfaction with the legislative provisions that, according to employee representatives, significantly affect the income and rights of healthcare and social care staff.

For elderly people who depend on medical and social care services, this conflict between the authorities and sector workers represents a major concern. The quality of care in hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and social care institutions could be compromised if tensions persist.
