Massive investments in healthcare infrastructure: 270 million RON for the modernisation of hospitals in Romania
The Ministry of Health is accelerating investments in the healthcare system with payments exceeding 270 million RON from European funds, directly benefiting elderly care.

The Romanian healthcare system is receiving a major financial boost through payments of over 270 million RON made in the past month for medical infrastructure projects funded by the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP). This substantial investment represents an important step towards modernising healthcare infrastructure and improving the quality of medical services.
Interim Health Minister Cseke Attila has signed 41 addendums ensuring the continuity of investments deemed essential to the development of the national healthcare system. These documents guarantee that ongoing projects will be completed in accordance with the original plans.
For seniors in Romania, these investments in healthcare infrastructure mean improved access to quality medical services. The modernisation of hospitals and their equipping with state-of-the-art technology will directly contribute to more effective care for conditions common in old age, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and neurological disorders.
The European funds allocated through the NRRP for the healthcare sector are aimed not only at renovating existing buildings, but also at acquiring high-performance medical equipment, digitalising services, and improving IT infrastructure in healthcare facilities. These upgrades will reduce waiting times and increase diagnostic accuracy.
The implementation of these infrastructure projects will have a long-term impact on the quality of life of older people, providing access to modern medical investigations, up-to-date treatments, and improved hospitalisation conditions. The investments represent an essential contribution to building a healthcare system that is more resilient and better equipped to meet the needs of an ageing population.
