Cseke Attila: PNRR will be continued by the Health Operational Programme. The Heart Institute in Târgu Mureș, inaugurated on Monday
The interim Minister of Health announces the continuation of PNRR investments through the Health Operational Programme and the inauguration of the Heart Institute in Târgu Mureș.

The interim Minister of Health, Cseke Attila, stated on Saturday in Cluj that healthcare investments funded through the NRRP are not being halted, but will instead be taken over and continued through the Operational Programme for Health. On this occasion, the official announced that the new building of the Heart Institute in Târgu Mureș will be inaugurated on Monday.
"The NRRP was a tremendous opportunity for Romania, and the Operational Programme for Health is to follow, which will represent a continuation of this opportunity. Perhaps one important point I should mention is that it is possible in Romania — it is possible to have a project drawn up, it is possible to secure funding for that project, it is possible for that project to be built, and it is possible for things to reach completion. And it is possible to use public funds, national funds, and European funds for patients and in support of local communities. The investment serves citizens and patients. Further significant healthcare investments are forthcoming. On Monday we will inaugurate the new building of the Heart Institute in Târgu Mureș — an equally important investment, of considerable value, which will serve not only the Mureș area in that field, but the whole of Transylvania and Romania," said Cseke Attila, as quoted by Agerpres.
The Minister attended the inauguration on Saturday, alongside interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Senate President Mircea Abrudean, and other national and county officials, of the Regional Centre for Vascular-Cerebral Pathology and Neurosurgery in Cluj-Napoca.
The project for this centre began in 2019, with the first phase dedicated to preparing the documentation and obtaining the necessary approvals and permits. Construction work proper commenced in August 2022, following the approval of non-repayable funding through the NRRP, with a total value of over 230,000,000 RON.
The new centre will offer 105 patient beds, of which 79 are designated for neurosurgery and 26 for intensive care. It will have 7 operating theatres, one of which is a hybrid theatre. More than 500 doctors, nurses, and auxiliary staff will work within the facility, many of them coming from the existing clinical neurosurgery and neurosurgery intensive care wards.
