Firefighters from ISU Suceava were alerted and responded with three fire engines and a SMURD ambulance to the residence in Dolheștii Mari. Upon the arrival of the emergency crews, the flames had already spread to several outbuildings, including the summer kitchen, with the risk of the fire spreading to the entire property.

According to preliminary information, firefighters were notified that a person might be trapped inside one of the rooms. Tragically, after extinguishing the fire and gaining access to the interior of the building, the crews discovered the charred body of the owner, confirming the worst-case scenario.

The fire destroyed the summer kitchen and the living room across an area of approximately 80 square metres, along with all the belongings inside. According to initial investigations by firefighters, the fire most likely started from embers that had fallen from the stove.

This tragic event highlights the heightened risks faced by elderly people living alone, particularly during the cold season when the use of heating systems can become dangerous. The authorities are reminding the public of the importance of regularly inspecting heating installations and adhering to safety measures in order to prevent such tragedies.
