Health: general strike announced at the end of the month. Government: we cannot change the legislation now

Healthcare workers are continuing preparations for a general strike scheduled for the end of the month. The protest will directly affect patients, as hospital services will be maintained by only 30% of staff.

Interim Health Minister Cseke Attila met with representatives of trade unions in the sector. The official stated that the unions' demands cannot be addressed during the current Government's mandate and that they could only be considered after a new Executive with full powers is installed.

The unions are calling for a return to previously negotiated salaries and entitlements, an end to bonus reductions, and the opening of negotiations with authorities on the new Pay Act.

Employee representatives are warning that the current form of the draft legislation will further harm the healthcare system, with workers at risk of losing thousands of RON from their earnings.

Union representatives have announced they will send letters to all parliamentary parties, urging them not to vote in favour of the new version of the Pay Act.
