Alexandru Rogobete, former Minister of Health and PSD member, has publicly called on the president of the National Health Insurance House (CNAS), Horațiu Moldovan, to disclose the true financial situation of the healthcare system. Rogobete recalls that, just a few weeks ago, the CNAS president declared there were no problems and that concerns about funding and access to medicines were "false", dismissing them as "political games".

What figures Rogobete is demanding be made public

The former minister is calling for the publication of concrete figures regarding the funding required until the end of the year. Specifically, he is requesting:

  • The amounts needed in the fourth quarter for national health programmes, broken down by oncology, rare diseases, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and neurology;
  • The status of payments to pharmacies and the funding required to close out the year without any outstanding debts;
  • The status of outstanding sums owed for sick leave and the funding needed to settle them;
  • The status of CNAS payments to public and private healthcare facilities over the past three months, broken down by month;
  • The total funding required by the system up to 31 December 2026 and any debts at risk of being carried over to the following year.

Explanations demanded of Horațiu Moldovan

Rogobete is calling on the CNAS president to publicly disclose the data and analyses on which he based his claim that the system's situation was in order. He also references Moldovan's statements regarding the independence of his decisions from political pressure exerted by dismissed Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, his party leader: "Then publish the figures. Not statements. Not general assurances. The real figures!", Rogobete declared.

The former minister argues that Romanians deserve to know exactly what the financial situation of the healthcare system is and whether there is sufficient funding for treatments, medicines, and hospitals through to the end of the year: "Mr President, publish the figures!", he added.
