Two doctors from Iași have been sent to trial in a criminal case comprising over 200 counts of abuse of office, according to information from Realitatea PLUS.

The main defendant is former senior physician Dan Tesloianu, accused of implanting medical devices sourced from deceased individuals into patients. According to investigators, this allegedly occurred in 185 cases. Prosecutors claim that patients were not informed about the origin of the implanted devices, which would have violated their right to information.

In this case, the Iași hospital has joined proceedings as a civil party and is seeking compensation of over two million lei.

Second doctor accused of supplying the devices

The second defendant, Belu Eduard, is accused of having provided Dan Tesloianu with 24 medical devices deemed non-compliant.

The two doctors are to stand trial for the offences outlined in the indictment, with the court set to determine whether they are guilty of the charges brought by prosecutors.
